The Many Roles Portrayed by a Mother

In terms of defining what the word mother means, it is quite difficult to find a collection of words that would define it and be accepted universally. It’s social, cultural, and religious definitions have made it far more complex to be defined. A biological mother is the one that actually gave birth to a child. She is the one who conceived the child and carried it in her womb for nine months or so. The appearance, and hereditary attributes of the child are pretty much coming from either the child’s biological father or biological mother. The one who sustains the embryo to term for a couple who are unable to have of an offspring is known as the surrogate mother. After delivering the baby, the surrogate mother surrenders all the rights and all the responsibilities of the baby to the biological mother. The term mother is also entitled to a woman who acts as the main social role in raising the child, even if she is the stepmother or adoptive mother of the child because being unrelated by blood is not a hindrance in giving care to the child.
Historically speaking, mothers have fulfilled the primary role in raising the children. However, during today’s generation, fathers have emerged in the scene of child care and their role in the family has in a way changed from bread winners of the family, to become primary caregivers. Although this is true in some families, the mother is still known as the universally accepted primary caregiver of the children. Mothers are far better in catering for the emotional needs of the children. Mothers provide the best advice with regards to matters of the heart. Their calm and soothing voice provides the rest to the uneasy and confused thinking of a young teenager experiencing problems with his or her love life. Mothers are the number fans. When you are down, troubled and in need of a helping hand to push you back in the competition, that is time where the role of a mother just shines. Mothers will always believe in you no matter what mistakes you commit in life. They will guide you to the right path and teach you how to learn from the mistakes of the past to move forward to a new and brighter tomorrow. The way mothers speak to their children is better suited to support very young minds in their efforts to understand speech than fathers. Mothers are more likely than fathers to encourage assimilative and character-enhancing patterns of behavior in their children. Mothers are the first ones whom their children run to in times of problems, and adversities. In their presence and unconditional love, children somehow find what we call a safe haven and a refuge. A mother by essence has no right to be called by their names if they do not show care and attention to her children. Performing the role as the primary caregiver, mothers need to recognize the needs of her children and attend to those needs because the children are very much dependent to their parents not only for physiologic needs, but also for safety, security and love as well. Aside from attending to the needs of her children, mothers also provide what we call a motherly advice. Many would say that mother knows best and probably this holds true since a true mother by essence has always good and pure intentions for her children. A mother always wants what is best for her children and will not settle for anything else. That is the unconditional love that mothers can offer to her children, a kind of love that so unique and so strong that makes it very special. There is nothing in this existing world that is comparable to this kind of motherly love. It is unconditional and without boundaries.
The kind of love that mothers offer is indeed precious as jewels. It is not to be denied that they are one of the most influential and most important people in the life of every individual, whether they may be young or young at heart. Mothers can provide a support system like no other. In this connection, we must forever be thankful for the love they are showering upon each of us.

One of the most beautiful things living in this world is having a son or a daughter. It is what most couple dreamed of. Planning before making a decision of having a child is very important. It is not that easy to support a child until he or she becomes an independent person. Humans have been reproducing for billions of years up until today. As the generation becomes younger, the number of teenage mother increases and so as the number of unwanted pregnancies. Some people recognized this as an ordinary event, but in practical life it is a big problem to both the parents and to the teenagers. Let us further understand why these individuals risk their selves of getting pregnant. First let us know the current teenager’s attitudes and characteristics. We can see that teenagers were influenced by their environment. They become to try on things that they didn’t do before. Just like having premarital sex.
Doing things, which involved risk are believed to have an associated pleasure. Did you get what it means? Imagine yourself knowing that you are a minor in a bar for the first time. You saw that people drinking. All of them, including your friends. What will you do? Are you also going to drink? If you chose to drink, then you are one of those teenagers today. The youth is out of control. They perceive bad things as good when they know that every teen is doing it. Most teens are also into dares. They love to be challenged. It is common for male teenagers where they like to prove to the girls that they are a tough individual. This is one of the reasons why increasing number of accidents involves teenagers. Among teenage problems pregnancy is one of the most common. It is evident that there are now increasing number of teenage mothers. We can even see this in our neighbors or even in one of our classmates. Why did they do such an act? Can you think of any reason? It is natural that being in the teenage years involves love partners. They begin to make intimate feelings with each other, to the extent that they begin to create lust. It is strongly believed that wrong doings was done because of influences by adults or due to our own curiosity.
Parent’s role is important in taking care of a teenager. They must set rules inside the house as well as in outdoors. Aside from influences and curiosities a teenage can be in a high risk for pregnancy if she involves in night parties or bar hopping. It is a fact that when you drink liquor, there is a tendency that your sexual drive will increase. This is why premarital sex is common after night parties or bar hopping. The teenagers need to be disciplined in terms of making decision. This is because there are many teenagers decided to involve in premarital sex not knowing the risk of such an act. Parents should also avoid over restrictions on their teenagers because this can result to curiosity, which can later lead to wrong act. When a teenager becomes pregnant the couple will likely decide to abort the baby because both are afraid of the responsibilities. This includes the health support of the baby, daily diet, and educational support in the later life.
Abortion is the secondary problem of unwanted pregnancy. This procedure can increase the risk to several health problems to the mother. A good example is hemorrhage. To solve this problem abortion must be avoided and the government should provide a solution for this issue. This is because most teenage parents do not have a stable job to support the baby because of the insufficient requirements for employment. In addition most of them are rejected by their own parents. Therefore, the government should provide free health assistant and distribution of goods to the teenage parents to support their child. We should always remember that for every problem, there is a solution but above all the best way to solve a problem is to prevent it.
Weight Loss for Moms

Many women gain extra and unwanted pounds during pregnancy, which would relatively average between 25 to 35 pounds. After giving birth, mothers gradually lose 14 pounds in average. So the remaining gained pounds of 21 are distributed in the body, probably in the belly, thighs, and etc., sometimes in unequal proportions.
Both new and not so new mothers would want to lose that belly fat and excess pounds which were caused by pregnancy and childbirth.
Due to the demands of motherhood, moms are ultimately the busiest individuals. Whose mother isn’t? Because of that, they do not have time for almost everything except for being full-time mothers. Thus, it is very much difficult to find time to work out and eat properly, especially for new moms who have not made enough adjustments yet in their baby’s routines and needs.
Breastfeeding helps in losing weight. However, it is not advisable to depend solely on it as when breastfeeding stops, weight gaining starts.
Diet is the best option for moms who are looking forward to losing weight. To begin with, the need to cut off on any fatty food such as chocolate-covered pastries, donuts, and the like, will set your focus on increasing your intake on lean meats, fruits, and vegetables along with the increased level of daily activities.
The following are quick and easy healthy diet plan tips for moms:
- healthy snack tips – do not indulge in unhealthy foods such as junk foods and cola
- do not eat the leftover on your children’s plates
- do not eat late – possibly eat early supper then no more food until morning
- drink lots of water – at least 8 glasses a day
- get enough sleep
- don’t skip breakfast – ideally, it is best to eat a big breakfast then smaller proportions during lunch and dinner
- meals should be filled with fruits and vegetables
Along with proper diet, sweating some will not hurt a bit. The following are tips for stay-at-home moms:
- stroll your kids at the park daily
- use stairs instead of escalators or elevators in malls or elevated establishments
- park far from the market or grocery store and walk
- wake up early and hit the treadmill
While eating healthy and sweating out are your main concerns, there are also those that need to be considered, such as wrong assumptions that would hinder your objectives. These are the sneaky diet saboteurs that should be steer-cleared to achieve that slimming effect your long dreamed of having:
- Skipping meals – this actually slows down the metabolism. This has long been stressed-out in all the crash-dieting programs there is. Feeding the baby is hard especially if you don’t have a house maid. Therefore, figuring out how to feed the baby and at the same time yourself is very much crucial, particularly since your body is still in the recovery state. Furthermore, skipping a meal is pretty much an easy task. As such, the body begins to think that there is a scarcity in food and thus, therefore decides to slow down the stored energy consumption.
- Emotional eating – what you are feeling about right now can work wonders with how you eat. Probably, you are feeling so much terrified at someone and releases the tension through a bowl of calorie-intensified pasta. Seeking comfort in foods has physiological reasons. Take, for instance, carbohydrates, that when eaten alone, the level of feel-good brain chemical known as serotonin will rise up. This neurotransmitter increases the feeling of relaxation as it regulates the mood.
- No time or energy to plan – because of the feeling of exhaustion, suddenly you will realize that you have not yet eaten the second meal of the day yet it is already past 7 o’clock. By this, grabbing the easiest and fastest-cooking meal will be your resort.
While opting to stay at home and take care of the kids is such a motherly act, it is still best to watch your eating habits and levels of physical activities. Keeping in shape will boost your self-esteem and taking criticisms as challenges will result to a healthier, more-loved body. It will be the sweetest thing there is – sweeter than a chocolate-dipped ice cream.
